I have absolutely no idea where I would be without Josh’s training. I came to Josh over 80 pounds overweight and with little motivation to do anything about it. Josh was able to push me beyond anything that I thought I was capable of. In the two years that I trained with Josh I was able to lose close to 100 pounds of body fat while gaining 20+ pounds of muscle, completely changing my life. Not only is Josh extremely knowledgeable about fitness as well as nutrition, he is patient, cares deeply about his clients, and will do anything in his power to help you reach your specific goals. The lessons I have learned from Josh are intangible and worth way more than 5 stars on a review. Josh has trained my entire family at different times. He worked with my daughter to help her get in shape for high school soccer many years ago; Josh’s instruction has had a lasting impression as she has carried the habits she learned into young adulthood. He trained my other daughter to prepare her for her ROTC fitness assessment; he was able to get her in top shape in a short time. He has helped my husband achieve his goals of weight loss and improved heart health. Most recently, I started working with Josh, because I had seen the results he had on the rest of the family. No words can express how incredible Josh and his services have been. Three years ago I was overweight, unhappy, eating junk food, not sleeping well, and overall not the man I wanted to be. On the first day Josh made me feel like I could do something about it, a feeling I wasn’t familiar with. He made a set of goals with me and pushed me to meet those goals. I ate healthier and began working out and after three months I had lost 40 lbs, and after six I’d lost 60. I have been training with Josh for over 10 years. He’s worked with me when I was my heaviest and most unhealthy and at my fittest and all the stages in between. Due to some health issues, I needed to drop some weight and adopt a healthier lifestyle. I decided to contact Josh as he had trained both of my girls, and I really liked his approach. A few days prior to starting training, I had a cardioversion scheduled to correct a heart arrhythmia. I had been through the procedure many times before, but his time was different. I left the hospital wired to a portable defibrillator vest as I was considered at high risk for sudden cardiac death. That will get your attention. I assumed this meant my training would be delayed, which was disappointing having already made the commitment. To my surprise, Josh was willing to work with my “constraints”, and I started training with him. He was careful to keep my heart rate within the parameters allowed by my cardiologist. A month later, I was able to get rid of the vest. I am now about a year and half in. I have made permanent changes in my eating habits thanks to Josh’s instruction and have lost 30 lbs. I am more fit at 53 than I have ever been, even having been athletic in my youth. What I love most about Josh is that if you have any “aches & pains”, he has techniques to alleviate them, and he knows the science behind what he tells you to do.

I started using Fender’s Fitness Training at the beginning of January, after making the decision to finally try to get in shape. I’ve been overweight since high school, and between work and life in general, hadn’t been taking care of myself. Josh has been amazing for the three months I’ve been training. The first day we met, he sent me information on why he makes his recommendations, and urged me to make specific goals for our training together to watch how things would improve. Since starting training, I’ve already lost 40 pounds, and I feel a lot better physically and mentally. I can see the weight disappearing and I’m more active than I’ve been in a long time. He makes a point of checking in at sessions to help keep me accountable on my food and cardio outside of training, which is the biggest reason I’ve failed in the past. The training itself is difficult but manageable and has scaled as my fitness has improved. The small group setting makes sure Josh is available to help you, without feeling like you’re being scrutinized every second. I’m so excited with the progress I’ve made so far, and I can’t wait to see where I am at in 3 more months.

I started with Josh because I didn’t want to end up with the same results as before when it came to getting a gym membership. The typical ‘go for a week, and eventually go back to old habits’ routine. Not to mention I haven’t lifted seriously since high school, and I didn’t want to hurt myself. My expectations were met, and exceeded. When I started, I weighed 204 lbs. I went in with the goal to lose 20 lbs, and in 3 months I’m down 27 lbs. He provides a solid workout routine each visit, catered to your needs, as well as a diet plan to stick to. He pushes you to do what you think you might not be able to, while also making sure you are not over doing it. On top of that you will undoubtedly get your weekly ‘dad joke’ in. Overall, this is a gym and trainer I absolutely recommend if you are serious about getting results.
